Ojibwa's 9 hole golf course was built in 1929 by Carl Kleinheinz on the shores of the Chippewa River where scenic views are in abundant supply.. Chuck and Bob Wagner purchased the property in 1989 and started the slow process of infusing a renewed enthusiasm into the business.. Introduction of new machinery, ideas, and tender loving care took the project in the right direction. In 1995, the addition of a completely new automated irrigation system,
which included a large pond separating the sixth and seventh fairways has
provided the project the foundation it needed. Along with the irrigation
system came manicured fairways and larger more manicured tee boxes and greens. Well-thought out changes have helped the course maintain a fresh look each year. Changes underway for 1999 include the reconfiguring of the par 4 hole #6 into a par 5. This will include lengthening the hole and the addition of sand traps and moguls to tighten up the landing areas. The front tees allow Ojibwa to be a very comfortable course for seniors and women - making it a great place for couples to enjoy themselves. While not overly long, Ojibwa's layout can provide some interesting play for the lower handicap player. The WSGA rating of 33.1 and slope of 110 is deceiving. The course plays much harder from the back tees. Hole #5 is a 185 yard par 3 from an island tee, over water, to an elevated green. Hole #6, with its new look, will be a par 5 dogleg left with water and bunkers to contend with. Newer rental cars with sunroofs make for a pleasant round of golf. Pull carts and rental clubs are available. After a stimulating round of golf, you are invited to enjoy your favorite beverage and sandwich in our Bar & Grill. Relax on our large deck overlooking the course. Banquet facilities are available for large gatherings. 8 bowling lanes with automatic scoring are available in case of inclement weather. Ojibwa Golf and Bowl is located on Hwy 124 N. Chippewa Falls about 1 mile north of the Leinenkugels Brewery and Irvine Park. We are easily accessible from Hwy 53 at Exit 99, County Trunk "S" east 2 miles to the golf course sign, then turn right. Downtown Chippewa Falls is minutes away, filled with many fine stores and antique shops. Just down the road is the Leinenkugel Brewery; take a tour and visit their popular gift shop. Also within walking distance is Irvine Park. This 318 acre park has a zoo, pavilion, several large and small picnic areas and beautiful grounds to go for a stroll. Just across from Irvine Park is the city swimming pool. Make a weekend of it, come experience all of Chippewa Falls.
